Building Newegg’s Gamer Zone

Problem

As gaming and livestreaming became central to the tech community, Newegg needed a destination that could showcase products, host events, and connect with customers in a more immersive way than traditional online campaigns. Without a dedicated hub, brands and influencers lacked a space to engage with their audience on a more personal level.

Solution

I led the design and build of Newegg’s Gamer Zone, a 2,300 sq. ft. venue at company headquarters. Launched during Intel Gamer Days, the space was designed as both an event hub and a broadcast-ready studio. I oversaw the integration of a professional NDI-based broadcast system with multi-camera switching, selected the right equipment, and managed the construction process, ensuring every activation met professional production standards.

The Gamer Zone was outfitted with:

• High-performance gaming PCs for competitive play and demos

• Racing simulators for immersive experiences

• A single VR station with mixed reality for next-generation engagement

• A shoutcaster desk for professional commentary and live coverage

• A console area with Xbox, PlayStation, and Nintendo systems for versatile gaming showcases

• A broadcasting station to manage livestreams, replays, and branded production assets

Results

The Gamer Zone became an adaptable space capable of hosting esports tournaments, influencer activations, product launches, and community gatherings while enabling brands and influencers to engage with their audiences at a more intimate and authentic level. It positioned Newegg as not only a retailer but also an innovator in gaming culture and livestream production.

Legacy

What began as an ambitious vision became Newegg’s flagship destination for gaming and technology. The Gamer Zone continues to elevate vendor relationships, inspire community engagement, and strengthen Newegg’s reputation as a leader at the intersection of retail, gaming, and live content creation. It remains one of my proudest achievements because it transformed how Newegg connects with its customers, partners, and the broader gaming community.
